Division of Risk Management

Our division is an integral part of the Department of Administrative Services. Our role is to provide insurance coverage for all state agencies. This coverage includes liability insurance, property insurance, and vehicle coverage. Included in this coverage group are all state universities and colleges, school districts and most of the charter schools.

• Symposium for HR Managers

  • "Employment Liability and Legal Issues in the Public Sector"

This symposium will cover employment liability and legal issues in the public sector including: new ADA regulations, mental health fitness for duty evaluations, workplace investigation interviews and attorney perspectives on workplace investigations. December 8th, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the State Office Building Auditorium. Lunch will cost $5.00. Register Now

• Higher Education Conference December 15th, 2009.

  • "Let's Talk Campus Safety!"

The National School Safety Center and the US Department of Justice's Office of Community Oriented Policing Services are pleased to announce a new campus safety training program for colleges and universities. this innovative workshop will be offered at the Utah Valley University on Dec. 15th to all college and university personnel responsible for providing safety for campuses. If you are involved in crisis response in any form for your campus please plan on coming to this training. Register now.

• The 2010 Self-Inspection Survey is now available. Please click on the link located at the left of the page to access this year's survey.
  • Several changes were made to the design so that Coordinators and Surveyors will not try to login at the wrong area.
  • We would like to remind all the coordinators that the survey needs to be done by June 1st, 2010 and submitted to the Division of Risk Management.
  • The Risk Committee Minutes should be submitted electronically to SIS@utah.gov by the same date.

Riskwatch is the official publication of the Division of Risk Management. This quarterly publication is put out in order to inform our clients of events and news that might be beneficial to them. • The Division of Risk Management would like to remind everyone of the danger of swine flu in the workplace as we encounter many people through out the day as we conduct business. Remembering our best protections come from our being vigilant and following healthy practices in our daily life, these include.
  • Wash your hands.
  • Stay at home — from work, school or other public activities — when you are ill.
  • Shield others from your cough and sneezes by using a tissue.
  • Keep your hands away from your eyes, nose, or mouth.
  • Get plenty of sleep, exercise, and nourishment.
  • Monitor any changes about the current outbreak.

Location and Hours

The Division of Risk Management in support of Governor Huntsman's "Working 4 Utah" initiative has changed their hours. Our new hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. We are closed Friday and Saturday. If you have questions about our office hours, please call 801-538-9560.
